Innovative Water Management Practices Webinar

This 45-minute webinar, held Dec. 11, 2009, is now available online. Hosted by the California Agricultural Water Stewardship Initiative and Growing Produce, the presentation features drought-proof and cost-saving on-farm water management practices by three California growers.

This year’s drought in parts of California, and the subsequent water restrictions placed on agriculture, are certainly causing headaches for some growers. However, there are many growers that have been taking important leadership roles in improving water management on their own farms. In this webinar, three growers share their experiences in water management. We hear from Craig McNamara of Sierra Orchards, Israel Morales of American Farms, and Colby Eierman from Benziger Family Winery about their water stewardship efforts. In addition, Alan Forkey and Dan Johnson from Natural Resources Conservation Service describe technical and financial support opportunities available through NRCS. Forkey is Assistant State Conservationist for California, and Johnson is State Water Management Engineer.
