Dry Farming: Boosting the bottom line
On the morning of July 28th, growers and allies gathered to learn the history, techniques and tools of dry farming grapes in Sonoma County along with Will Bucklin in his 158 year old vineyard, Bucklin Old Hill ranch, with 26 varieties of grapes. Joe Votek of Loma del Sol on Sonoma mountain also shared his experience. Dave Runsten, CAFF’s Policy Director, introduced CAWSI’s Ag Water Stewardship Resource Center. The day also covered tillage, cover crops, water use, root stock, composting and more.
This event was hosted by Bucklin Old Hill Ranch, Glen Ellen, and sponsored by North Coast Chapter of the Community Alliance with Family Farmers along with California Agricultural Water Stewardship Initiative.
